Why RCB Captain Rajat Patidar Is Missing Today’s Match?

Rajat Patidar was expected to walk out for the toss against Punjab Kings. But it was Jitesh Sharma who stepped out for the toss, as fans noted that Patidar is not available for this game. It was later informed that the skipper was not fit for this game and will return for the clash against SRH.

‌Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently going against one of their arch rivals, Punjab Kings. The match is being played at the HPCA Stadium, with RCB batting first in this game. Right before the game, the defending champions suffered a massive blow, with their skipper being unavailable for this match.
Rajat Patidar was expected to walk out for the toss but that didn't happen. Instead, it was Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeper batsman of RCB, who came out for the toss in this game. He was also asked about the reason why Rajat Patidar was unable to make it to this match's playing XI.
Jitesh Sharma responded to the same by informing the fans that Patidar was not fit enough to participate in this match. He even said, “Rajat is doing fantastic now and hopefully we'll see him in Hyderabad.” It is confirmed that Patidar would be back in the team for the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which will take place on 22 May.

Our Take

The unavailability of Rajat Patidar won't be having much of an impact on Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In his place, the team has gone with Venkatesh Iyer, who has now received a major boost in his batting order. Moreover, RCB has almost secured its place in the playoffs, as they now eye for a win in its remaining two games which would help them to easily make it to the top two.
