Arsenal won an important game against Manchester United at home to brighten their chances of clinching a Champions League spot. Meanwhile, Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by visitors Southampton that saw them miss an opportunity to consolidate their position in the top four.

Arsene Wenger finally tasted success against Jose Mourinho in what was his 15th attempt as hosts Arsenal scored twice against Manchester United. A fatigued and injury-hit Manchester side allowed a first half chance go by when Wayne Rooney failed to score of a poor back-pass from Rob Holding.

Arsenal ended United's 25-match unbeaten run and now stand an outside chance of finishing among the top four. The Gunners would be eyeing Liverpool, who are currently third with only two games remaining, while Arsenal

Liverpool's lacklustre display earned them a point against Southampton at the Anfield as they missed an opportunity to further the gap between them and fifth-placed Manchester United and sixth-placed Arsenal. James Milner's spot kick was saved brilliantly by Fraser Foster, who helped earn his side a valuable point away from home.
The match lacked pace and intent from both sides. Although the point lifted Liverpool to third it is unlikely that the Reds will be able to hold on to the position.
