But negotiations between the two clubs have failed to reach come to a conclusive agreement, as Inter were unable to match Manchester United's asking price for Lukaku.
A move for Juventus seemed more likely, as the Vecchia Signora was willing to involve Paulo Dybala in a swap deal to guarantee Lukaku, but negotiations failed. Manchester United ended the talks with the Argentinian attacker, after learning that the 25-year-old wanted wages matching those of Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba to join the club.
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already iterated that he only wants players who want to join the club, and this has opened an opportunity for Inter to renew their interest for the powerful striker.
