Olivier Giroud has struggled for game time at the club level and has expressed frustration on not being selected regularly which has seen Didier Deschamps step up to his defense. Chelsea new boss Frank Lampard has opted to use Tammy Abraham instead of the Frenchman and that has caused problems.

Olivier Giroud has just played five Chelsea games and has scored one goal so far this season. The lack of playing time has prompted Giroud to go public and admit his frustration of being on the Chelsea bench. However, he assured the fans that he hasn’t had a fallout with Frank Lampard. As reported by FourFourTwo France manager Didier Deschamps too has supported his national striker Giroud and thinks that Giroud needs to play more games because of the abundant quality and experience under his belt.

“You know, Olivier suffers his situation. Before January, nothing will move. After, it will be up to him to see. I hope he will have more playing time. But we cannot take away his goals, his good performances. He scores, he makes others play well,” said Deschamps as reported by FourFourTwo.

Deschamps is a big fan of the 2018 WorldCup winner who has been clinical for the Les Bleus scoring an important winning goal for France against Iceland during the international break. Giroud also indicated that he might move out of Chelsea in order to search for playing time. Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson remains keen on bringing the former Arsenal man to Selhurst Park.

Hodgson wants a Premier League proven goalscorer to help bolster his attack this season for what could be a surprise challenge for European football. Giroud’s deal runs out at the end of the season and with no indication of him signing a new deal, he could be available for a cheap price.

His situation at Chelsea doesn’t seem to get better with Tammy Abraham getting the nod ahead of him. Abraham has been one of Lampard’s most productive players and Lampard wants the academy product to develop and hence is ready to hand him chances to prosper. Palace face competition from Inter who too are interested in the 33-year-old forward.
