Reports | Jose Mourinho considering move to Borussia Dortmund
José Mourinho is currently unemployed after a three-year stint with Manchester United, a club where he won a Europa League, SuperCup and League Cup titles. Much has been said about the Portuguese but his biggest wish remains to be back on the pitch to do what he does best and manage a team.
According to Goal, Jose Mourinho has been in constant talks with Borussia Dortmund's representatives in order to reach a deal with the German club. The club's board are looking for a long-term plan to compete with Bayern Munich both in the league and the Champions League, and while Lucian Favre's has done a good job so far, Goal has reported that the solution could go through the former Real Madrid manager.
The former Manchester United boss has been unemployed since leaving the Red Devils but has become a pundit for Sky Sports giving his insight during big Premier League games, while at the same time remaining in touch with Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund's chief executive. The opportunity to challenge Bayern is something that appeals to the manager, and star power is no problem at Signal Iduna Park, with Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Paco Alcácer still at the club.
The 56-year-old has also stated over the last few months that he's been learning German for quite some time and is looking to manage a team in Germany someday so if anything's indicative of a possible move by the Portuguese, this could be it. If the deal does go through, then it Mourinho will join an elite club of managers to have managed in 5 leagues around the world.
