The Indian Super League (ISL) organisers have zeroed in on the home grounds of the respective participating teams based on the positions of the league standings in the last season. Three grounds, including the Nehru Stadium, in Fatorda, have been shortlisted as venues for the new season of the ISL.

With the pandemic situation looming over, the Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) along with the All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) decided to stage the Indian Super League (ISL) in a single city this season. While Goa and Kerala were front-runners to host the tournament, the former got the nod a few days back. Three venues - Nehru Stadium (Fatorda), GMC Athletic Stadium (Bambolin) and the Tilak Maidan (Vasco), were selected as venues for the event.

While it was decided that 10 teams would be divided into three groups of three, four and three respectively and assigned home grounds respectively, nothing was finalised yet. But, as per recent reports, the home venues will be decided on the basis of league standings of the last season. League winners FC Goa, ISL champions ATK-Mohun Bagan and third-placed Bengaluru FC, placed in Group A will play their home games in Fatorda.

“For the sake of identifying their home ground, groups have been made. For example, league champions FC Goa are at Fatorda which means they will play 11 games here,” stated an official, as reported by The Times of India.

Meanwhile, Group B, which features Chennaiyin FC, Mumbai City FC, and Odisha FC, and Kerala Blasters FC will play their home matches at Bambolin. Bottom-placed sides from the last season - Jamshedpur FC, Northeast United FC, and Hyderabad FC will host their matches in Vasco.
