Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut score first ever 300-run partnership in Women's ODIs

The duo started the game tentatively and a world record would not even have crossed their mind as they could only muster 39 runs in the first 10 overs. Sharma and Raut kept rotating the strike well and were putting the bad deliveries away to the boundaries with the latter bringing up her half-century halfway into the game to take the score to a modest 115/0. 

However, with both players having adjusted to the pace of the wicket, started playing a full variety of shots and within the next ten overs, the duo brought the team just six runs away from the 200-run mark. After that, it was the Sharma show. The 19-year-old scored her next hundred runs in just 46 balls as the partnership reached the world-record mark. 

The teenager had a great chance of becoming only the second woman after Belinda Clark (229*) to score a double century in ODIs but she fell just 12 runs short of the milestone. Raut, too, vacated her place on the pitch, retired hurt, at 109. The Indian openers broke the English duo Sarah Taylor and Caroline Atkins' record of 262 by 58 runs. 

At the time of writing this report, India were in complete control of the match in the second innings as well, restricting Ireland to 81/5 in 30 overs.
