Jasprit Bumrah has mentioned that if every player in the team could have taken more responsibility then the result could have been different in the first T20I against the Aussies. The pacer also stated that he was just focussing on his strengths while bowling against the Aussies.

With Jasprit Bumrah’s 19th over only fetching two runs and the valuable wickets of debutant Peter Handscomb and Nathan Coulter-Nile in successive deliveries, it seemed like India could have pulled off a memorable win in the first T20I against the Aussies in Vizag. However, Umesh Yadav's final over proved costly as the visitors managed to script a win in the thrilling inaugural game of the two-match series.

Meanwhile, Bumrah has come out to say that the Indian players could have taken more responsibility on their shoulders to get the result in their favour.

“Everybody could have taken a little more responsibility (while batting) but this happens. We lost two-three wickets more than we wanted to.” Bumrah said during the post-match press conference.

Bumrah finished with the figures of 3/16 from four overs in his comeback international break as he was rested during the limited-overs series in Australia and New Zealand. The pacer remained focussed on his strengths during the first T20I and came up with a good show with the ball in Vizag.

“I was just focusing on my strengths are what the wicket was because it was a little difficult to bat on. To play big shots on this sluggish wicket was difficult. We almost pulled out this game,” the Gujarat pacer said.

Speaking about MS Dhoni and KL Rahul's batting, Bumrah explained, "He (Dhoni) was just trying to take the game deep. KL Rahul’s 50 will increase the competition for the opener’s slot which is good for the team."

Coming out in defence of teammate Umesh who bowled the final over, Bumrah said, “This happens, death bowling is always difficult in any situation. It always goes both ways and it’s sometimes 50-50."

“You try your best, and you’re clear in your execution. Some days it works, some days it doesn’t. Nothing to be worried. We wanted to close the game in our favour but it’s okay.”
