VIDEO | MS Dhoni fools cameraman for “huge six” to play a normal dot ball off Nathan Coulter-Nile

MS Dhoni’s inability to hit clean was so evident that India could only manage a single boundary in the last 10 overs. That frustrated spectators and cameraman alike as the latter even turned the camera upward, thinking the MS Dhoni shot went for a six, but as it turned out, it was a dot ball.

Dhoni had made a livelihood out of making unfancied shots look ridiculously easy and his batting legacy was made up of those brilliant jabs and hoicks. However, his dwindling prowess again came to the fore in the Vizag T20I where he was on the field for 9.5 overs but managed to hit only one boundary during those overs.

It was supposed to be the TRP-generating time for the official broadcasters, given Dhoni was on the field, but his lack of pyrotechnics made them frustrated. So much so that, on the first ball of the 19th over when Dhoni wielded his bat hard, the cameraman was in cloud nine.

Nathan Coulter-Nile’s full ball slanted into the Indian batsman and the Indian keeper played a hoick and dragged it off the inner half to deep mid-wicket. The cameraman, instead of focusing on the ball, thought that it went upwards and took the angle in that direction. However, the ball was easily on its way to the fielder at deep mid-wicket and given the fact that Yuzvendra Chahal was at the other end, Dhoni decided to not pick a single as well. Star Sports thought it would for a six, but ended up being a dot ball.
