Graeme Swann selects Virat Kohli to lead his 2016 Test XI
Former England spinner Graeme Swann has chosen Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli as the captain, while choosing Ashwin and Umesh Yadav as well in his best Test team of 2016. Australian batsman Marcus North picked Virat Kohli and spin spearhead Ravichandran Ashwin in his team during the same show.
In a panel discussion show
Swann accommodated Virat Kohli at the No.5 position with the added responsibility of the skipper of the side. Swann sprang a surprise by demoting in-form-man Jonny Bairstow to No.7 and selected Ben Stokes at No.6 position. No.1 all-rounder of the world Ravichandran Ashwin has been selected as the lone spinner in the squad.
In the pace department, Swann chose Kagiso Rabada, Jose Hazlewood, and Indian pacer Umesh Yadav in the team.
Marcus North’s XI
Marcus North chose a team that has four Australian players in it. In his team, David Warner has been selected to open the innings with Usman Khawaja whereas Steve Smith has been chosen as the No.3 of the team, followed by Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli at No.4.
North has chosen England star batsman Joe Root as the next man to follow, while he picked AB de Villers, who has been battling with injuries of late, as the wicket-keeper of the team. All-rounder Ben Stokes, who has had a pretty impressive year- both with the bat and ball, has been chosen as the pace-bowling all-rounder of the team, whereas Ravichandran Ashwin makes a cut to the eleven without any doubt.
North, rather surprisingly, chose to pick Dale Steyn, who had to spend more time under rehab process than at the nets, to spearhead the line-up. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc and South Africa young sensation Kagiso Rabada are the other two pacers in the team.
