Virender Sehwag has compared Virat Kohli's aggression to Sourav Ganguly and called him an upgraded version of the former Indian skipper. The former Indian opener has also added that the fighting power of the team will help them in the upcoming challenges like England and Australia.

Ganguly led the Indian side from 1999 to 2005 during which he held the responsibility in 147 ODI matches and in which, he managed to win 76 games with a win percentage of 53.52. Kohli was handed the charge of the team in 2013 and he has been shown a brilliant form while performing the duty. He led the blue brigade in 49 games of the 50-overs format and led the team to 38 victories. Recently, the terrific form of the 29-year-old helped the Indian side beat the Proteas on their own den and that forced the former Indian opener to compare him with Ganguly.

"Kohli's aggression can be compared with Ganguly. In fact, he is an upgraded version of Sourav Ganguly. Under Ganguly's captaincy, we saw some incredible wins overseas and such has been the trend so far with Virat Kohli," Sehwag told India TV.

"He has gained confidence with the captaincy. Unlike others, he has matured and has taken his individual game to the next level. He doesn't take the pressure of captaincy. In fact, he has improved his game with the responsibility. He has brought the trend of fitness in the camp."

Last year, the Delhi player guided his team in three all formats of the game on home soil with aplomb and everyone expected the same form him on the overseas tour. Kohli tried to score runs during the Test series against South Africa but the team, especially the other batsmen, failed to show any fighting instinct which resulted in 1-2 loss in the three-match rubber. But their opponents failed to stop the right-handed batsman in the limited-overs format where he amassed 558 runs in six games.

"Kohli is the No.1 captain in terms of series wins. If we analyse the past eight series wins under his captaincy, we'll find that he is one of the best captains we have ever seen. Having said that, I believe that we should not compare him with the best of previous captains. He needs more time and experience as captain to reach where the past skippers are," Sehwag said.

"The fighting team is the power of captain Kohli and I strongly believe that this team can do wonders in England and Australia. The best thing about Kohli's captaincy is that he brings the best out of individuals. The day bowlers stop performing Kohli's downfall will begin. His strength lies in the current bowling line-up," Sehwag said.
