Rashid Khan has become the youngest player ever to top ICC Bowler's Rankings while Virat Kohli became the second batsman to cross 900-point mark in both Test and ODIs simultaneously after AB de Villiers. Khan shares the top spot with India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who now both have 787 points each.

Afghanistan wrapped the five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe 4-1 on Monday, thanks to Rashid’s brilliant contribution with both the bat and the ball. While the 19-year-old scored a quick 29-ball 43 to help his side post a target of 242 in the first innings, he took three wickets in the second innings conceding just 13 runs as Zimbabwe were wrapped up for just 95.

The leg-spinner now joins Bumrah with 16 wickets in the series against Zimbabwe. It was his 51 runs in two matches that also helped him break into the top five all-rounders and his position spiked up 11 positions to take him to the 114th place among batsmen.

The Indian skipper’s feat, on the other hand, remains unsurprising to many. Kohli’s unbelievable form in the ongoing South African tour, where he is enjoying an incredible average of 116.83 over the Test and ODI series, has now helped him cross the 900-point mark concurrently in both the Tests and the ODIs. He further secured his top position in the 50-overs format of the game with 558 runs after the 5-1 series win in ODIs.

With this feat, Kohli now moves ahead of West Indies legend Brian Lara in the all-timers’ list and now sits in the seventh position, which is led by Vivian Richards with 935 points. Kohli’s aggregate is also the best now since Lara reached 911 points back in March 1993.

Apart from Kohli, wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav also took giant strides to move up. While Chahal move to 21 with 16 wickets, Yadav moved up to 47 after taking 15 wickets. Bumrah’s eight wickets have lifted him two places to take the joint-first position.

Apart from Rashid Khan, the other Afghanistan players to improve their rankings include batsmen Rahmat Shah, who has moved up 39 places to 42nd, Javed Ahmedi, who moved up 18 places to 83rd, and Najibullah Zadran, who has moved up 23 places to 93rd.  Off-spin bowler Mohammad Nabi has also moved up seven places to 11th.
