Sourav Ganguly to make comeback to commentary for England tour
Sourav Ganguly is all set to return in the commentary box as he has been roped in by Star for India's forthcoming tour of England, starting from July 3. Ganguly was excited to engage with viewers throughout the tour and stated that the Indian team has a good chance to grab the series this time.
There has always been more to the India-England match when Sourav Ganguly has been in attendance. Ganguly’s shirt-off waving moment from the balcony of Lord’s has gone down in Indian folklore as one of the most memorable moments in Indian cricket history. After his retirement too, Ganguly kept up the heat in the commentary box by engaging in a battle of words with former England players when the two sides went head to head on the field. Hence, India’s tour of England would have been little bland without Ganguly. So to spice things up, Star, the official broadcaster of India, has signed up Ganguly as a commentator for India's tour of England.
Virat Kohli and his troops have been scheduled to play three T20Is, three ODIs and five Tests in a two-month long tour and Ganguly would be seen in action off the field, donning the commentator's hat.
"The conditions in England have proven to be tough for many Indian teams in the past. However, with the fantastic form of the team this year, I think we are in for a closely contested series. I have a lot of fond memories of playing in England and I can’t wait to share my thoughts and engage with cricket fans throughout the tour," Ganguly was quoted as saying by Star.
Apart from Ganguly, former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Ashish Nehra, Sanjay Manjrekar and Graeme Swann would also be on commentary duty during this series. India will open their campaign against England with a T20I in Manchester on July 3.
