Robin Uthappa, who finally seems to have gotten back in touch, praised his side’s fantastic victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad and stated that Kolkata Knight Riders never thought about losing even once. KKR easily chased down the target of 172 set by SRH and won the match with 5 wickets in hand.

After a shaky start, KKR finally seem to have found their winning combination. Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa’s valuable knocks helped Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets to qualify for the knockouts of IPL 2018 on Saturday. Lynn’s 55 off 43 balls and Uthappa’s 45 off 34 balls set the tone of victory for KKR against SRH, who suffered their third consecutive defeat. Uthappa praised his team for performing exceedingly well and asserted that they didn’t think about losing and were confident of the win.

"Well, we didn't think about losing. We did fantastically well with the ball after they were 144-odd in 14 overs. To pull them back to 172 was sensational effort by our bowlers. We have been batting pretty well," Uthappa said after the match as quoted by India Today.

With 16 points in their bag, KKR became the third team to book their berth for the playoffs of IPL 2018. Sunil Narine started the proceedings for KKR in an empathic manner, scoring 29 off 10 balls, which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. It was then Lynn and Uthappa who continued the clinical assault on SRH bowlers and stitched a 67-run stand. In the end, it was skipper Dinesh Karthik, who scored 26 not out and continued with his top form to take KKR home. Uthappa said he was satisfied with his batting performance.

"I am pretty happy to have gotten a string of scores - I wanted it more getting into the play-offs. Happy with the way I batted today - playing the sheet anchor's role to Lynny," Uthappa said.

Earlier, SRH got off to a flyer with Shikhar Dhawan and Shreevats Goswami providing a 79-run opening stand. This was SRH's best opening stand of the season. After Kuldeep broke the opening stand in the 9th over by dismissing Goswami, who scored 35 off 26 balls, it was the turn of skipper Kane Williamson to continue the momentum. Williamson scored an impressive 17-ball 36 before falling to Javon Searles in the 13th over. Dhawan followed Williamson after scoring his fourth fifty of the season and got out to Prasidh Krishna. Dhawan's wicket helped KKR claw their way back in the game as Yusuf Pathan (2) too failed to make an impression. Prasidh continued with his impressive bowling and picked three more in the 20th over to finish with 4/30 and helped KKR restrict SRH to 172/9.
