The pollution levels in Delhi have gone past the severe mark according to AQI levels post-Diwali and stubble burning in neighbouring states have worsened the situation. Amid all the chaos Bangladesh team has started it's training and batsman Liton Das was spotted training with a mask on.

It seems like BCCI's worst fear is coming true as Delhi seems in shape to host a T20I. Post-Diwali, the standards of Delhi's air has fallen into the "severe" category as it's AQI went past the 400 mark. Stubble burning in the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana have contributed as 35% to this worsened state of Delhi's air.

Bangladesh is scheduled to play the first match of the T20 series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on November 3. Bangladesh has already landed in Delhi for the same and has started training. While batsman Liton Das was seen training with a mask on, other players including Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rehman, however, were seen training without masks in the capital city.

Many including former cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir have urged the BCCI to move the T20I to be played in Delhi. But BCCI president Sourav Ganguly seems adamant as he answered in the affirmative when asked if the match will take place as scheduled.

When asked whether the match in Delhi would take place, Ganguly told Hindustan Times: “Yes, it will”.

Gambhir stressed that no match should take place in the city until pollution levels drop anywhere near its previous levels.

“No match or sporting event is bigger than the people of Delhi. I do not think any match should happen here in Delhi until the pollution level comes under control. The biggest issue that is bothering the Delhites is about pollution,” Gambhir said.
