Manchester United were almost stunned on Boxing Day before Jesse Lingard scored a brace to register a 2-2 draw against Burnley at Old Trafford in the Premier League. In another clash, Roberto Firmino scored twice which helped Liverpool thrash Swansea City 5-0 in the League on Tuesday.

Manchester United 2 - 2 Burnley

Manchester United's Premier League title hopes faced almost a blow as the team came from 2-0 down to draw the match at 2-2 with Burnley on Tuesday. Ashley Barnes and Steven Defour put Sean Dyche's Clarets two goals up by half-time against United, but substitute Lingard came as a savior for Jose Mourinho's side as he scored twice after the break to ensure the Red Devils did not witness a shock home defeat. The draw means United have remained unbeaten in 2017-18 season apart from a home loss to Manchester City at home and the draw also saw Burnley stay in seventh place and keeps United in second, one point above Chelsea. However, the result has surely struck a hammer blow to their hopes of hauling in their neighbors at the summit.

Liverpool 5 - 0 Swansea City

Liverpool reclaimed the fourth place on the Premier League table with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Swansea City on Tuesday. Philippe Coutinho gave the hosts the lead early on before Roberto Firmino doubled the advantage seven minutes into the second half. Trent Alexander-Arnold then netted his first Premier League goal which took the game away from Swansea and Firmino’s second made it 4-0 soon after. In the 82nd minute of the game, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also added his name to the goal-scorer list. While Liverpool continued to have the better of the possession, Swansea showed occasional signs of addressing their own attacking problems. On the points table, Swansea featured in the last position with 13 points in 20 games.

Chelsea 2 - 0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Alvaro Morata, who returned from suspension, inspired Chelsea to a 2-0 Boxing-Day win over Brighton at Stamford Bridge. The Spanish striker missed Chelsea's goalless draw with Everton at the weekend but was back in the starting line-up on Tuesday and he successfully showed his worth in the team as he opened the scoring with a header from Cesar Azpilicueta's cross in the 46th minute. Marcos Alonso then sealed all three points for Chelsea with a header of his own in the 60th minute which takes Chelsea to within one point of Manchester United, who drew 2-2 at home to Burnley and Brighton spotted on 12th position with 21 points.
