Former AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed his intentions to wait until the end of the season before he takes a new job. The Italian manager has been out of a job after his five-year trophy-laden spell in Turin drew to a close last summer and has been linked with a move to England.

The former Juventus boss left the Turin giants at the end of last season but walked away with five consecutive Serie A titles to his name. Not only that, the Italian lead Italy’s most successful club to two Champions League finals where they were beaten by Barcelona and Real Madrid during his spell with the club. However, since then Massimiliano Allegri has been out of a job despite intense links with a move to Tottenham, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and even Arsenal.

With three of the aforementioned sides sacking their managers, critics and fans expected Allegri to have already found his next club but the Italian has revealed he will not be taking a new job. That is until the summer with the former AC Milan manager still learning a few new skills and Allegri also added that his plan was, and still is, to take a year out.

"In June. I don't know if you can call it a sabbatical or not. Giovanni and I immediately came to that decision. As soon as the relationship with Juventus came to an end the decision was to take a year out. I had 18 years as a player and I've been in coaching for 16. I stopped this year after 34. I'm happy. I have a chance to reflect, go and talk to people, do things in my private life that I'm passionate about like going to the theatre, some art exhibitions, reading books,” he told ESPN.

Allegri has been linked with a move to England with Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly eyeing his services but they are not the only ones. Bayern Munich, who’ve appointed Hansi Flick as an interim boss, are considering Allegri with AC Milan also bookmakers favourite for their former boss after issues this season. But the Italian went on to admit that his next job has to be the right one as he wants to ensure success.

"Next year will be an important year. Important for the choice I end up making and the need to be prepared for it. After a year out and five years at Juventus, I don't want to go back into the game and do badly. That would do my head in," he added.
