How often does it happen that Cheteshwar Pujara gives Virat Kohli a run for his money while running between the wickets? Never ever, would be the answer. However, Pujara proved everyone wrong as his long-term vision made sure that he outran his partner after Kohli misjudged a shot for a boundary.

One of the finest chapters of Aesop's Fables, the Tortoise and the Hare story, which accounts the race between two unequal competitors resulted in conflicting interpretations, had captured the imagination of children world over and remained as a cult classic. While the world seems to have gone beyond fables nowadays with cartoon taking over, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli proved that those lessons are prevalent even today with a funny interpretation at the SCG today.

In the MCG Test, Pujara received a lot of flak after he failed to run the fourth run and Virat Kohli's inhuman fitness was celebrated by the Twitterati. However, at SCG, Pujara proved that it is more important to have a vision that overbrimming confidence.

After India lost Mayank Agarwal to a rash shot, the onus was on the duo to build on the start and they did a pretty good job at it. They didn’t force runs and only waited for the bad balls to put away, and as a result, the scoreboard kept ticking over. It came to a point that they didn’t have to give a fuss about the runs.

The third delivery of the 50th over which was bowled by Nathan Lyon was almost fuller than a good length delivery and the India No.3 had enough time in his hands to play a fine late cut. While the ball raced towards the third man region, Kohli assumed that it would be a four and didn't see any reason to any urgency whatsoever.

However, Pujara knew that he couldn’t be complacent and ran with his full throttle on, and reached the non-striker’s end, when the Indian skipper was just a couple of meters away from it. It was only then that Kohli understood the situation and tried to complete his first run, but by then, Pujara had already come back for the second run. Although the duo managed to complete a couple, it would have served as a reality check for the Indian skipper and might have reminded him of the famous fable that he would have heard in his childhood.
