VIDEO | Shimron Hetmyer's karma saves him from guaranteed run out against Bangladesh
Just like batting, running between the wickets swiftly is also an art, which not many manage to master. As a mix-up between Hetmyer and Shai Hope looked bad for the latter, the former offered to sacrifice his wicket but Bangladesh messed up the chance as Saifuddin threw a mile away from the target.
Bangladesh were trying to crawl back into the game after Evin Lewis and Nicholas Pooran did well to set up a platform for West Indies. Shai Hope was anchoring the innings with flair while Hetmyer looked to attack from the word go. Another wicket here would have put West Indies in hot water but Bangladesh failed to convert on half chances and gave the southpaw a priceless reprieve.
On the fifth delivery of the 35th over, Hope dabbed the ball to short third man and was in two minds whether to sneak a single or not. Hetmyer was already half way down the pitch and on seeing the indecisiveness of his more settled partner, he decided to sacrifice his wicket for the greater good. Saifuddin, who had all the time in the world to hit the target but a wayward throw allowed Hetmyer a reprieve. Maybe it was Hetmyer's good karma accumulated for making a sacrifice for the side that saved him. Or it could just be the fact that Bangladesh were terrible on the field today.
