Sachin Tendulkar has stated that he expects injured Shikhar Dhawan to bounce back emphatically from the injury that ruled him out of the ongoing World Cup. The southpaw looked in fine touch when he suffered an injury against Australia but continued to bat with a broken thumb to plunder a century.

After being rested initially because of a broken thumb, Dhawan was ruled out of the tournament on Wednesday. Rishabh Pant has been named as the replacement for the southpaw and it will be interesting to see if he could fill in the big shoes.

Dhawan has an uncanny knack of stepping up in big tournaments and was living up to the expectations in the ongoing tournament as well. He was in amazing form and his ouster is bound to affect him massively. India’s legendary cricketer expects him to come back stronger than ever and acknowledged his pristine form as well.

"Feel for you Shikhar. You were playing well & to be injured in the middle of such an important tournament is heartbreaking. I’m sure you’ll come back stronger than ever,” Tendulkar tweeted.

Pant, on the other hand, was in blistering form in the recently concluded Indian Premier League and scored runs heavily to make his presence unavoidable. This is a golden opportunity for the youngster to get going and make an immediate impact.

Rishabh you’ve been playing well & there can’t be a bigger platform to express yourself. Good luck!” added Tendulkar.

India will take on Afghanistan on Saturday and it will be interesting to see if Pant gets a nod as Vijay Shankar has also suffered a toe injury during the practice session.
