Fernando Llorente is close to signing for Serie A side Lazio after being released by Tottenham at the end of last season. The 34-year-old and the North London side failed to come to an agreement over a new deal but he hasn’t been short of suitors with Manchester United and Napoli keen on a move.

Fernando Llorente is close to joining Lazio on a free-transfer as per reports in the Daily Mail, with the Serie A side reportedly in intense talks with the Spanish striker. The 34-year-old left Tottenham at the end of last season after the North London side failed to offer him an extension on his contract but he hasn’t been short of any suitors so far.

Inter Milan, Napoli, Fiorentina and even Manchester United were all keen on potential moves reports the Mail, but no move materialized. Instead, Lazio have taken full advantage of that, with the striker’s agents and the club in serious talks over the past week or so. The Mail further added that Lazio boss Filippo Inzaghi is looking for another striker to help Ciro Immobile this season, and believes Llorente is his man.

The 34-year-old is overflowing with experience having played well over 500 games, scoring 173 goals. It’s a rather impressive record, which does include 28 goals in 66 appearances in the Italian top flight during his spell at Juventus.
