Juventus are considering a deadline day move for Olympique Lyon striker Moussa Dembele before the European summer window closes. The former Celtic striker has been heavily linked with a move to England, but neither Manchester United nor Arsenal can do anything with the English window closed.

Juventus have finally given up on their battle to try and sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi this summer, with the talks for the Argentine going nowhere. The former Barcelona youth star has already been told to leave the Nerazzurri this summer but has refused to do so despite interest from more than half a dozen sides across Europe.

That has seen the Serie A champions eventually give up on a move for Icardi according to reports in the Scottish Sun and are instead making a move for Moussa Dembele. Both the Daily Record and the Scottish Sun have reported that the Frenchman is on manager Maurizio Sarri’s striker shortlist this summer, with the club even sending scouts to watch him in Olympique Lyon’s second league game.

The forward went on to net a brace in Lyon’s 6-0 win over Angers, taking his tally to 28 goals in just 35 starts for the Ligue 1 giants. This combined with his performances last summer had seen both Arsenal and Manchester United interested in a move, but they cannot do anything, with the Premier League’s transfer window now officially closed.

This does give Juventus a chance to make a move, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted that the 23 year old is going nowhere, adding that the young striker is key to their plan to dominate France.

“He becomes the number one striker, which he was not totally last season. It is not a question of money, it is a question of ambition. Moussa is part of the project just like  Juninho or others. We want him to succeed and to reach the France team while playing for Lyon,” said the Lyon president to Goal.
