Pairs Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has asserted that the French Football Federation (FFF) has disrespected the club in light of news that Kylian Mbappe has tested positive for COVID-19. The French star is set to miss the Nations League game against Croatia and the club’s Ligue 1 opener.

While football is back to normal, albeit without fans across Europe, the rise in the number of coronavirus cases has continued as players return from their various holidays. Not only that, it has been made worse by the recent UEFA Nations League games as France have already confirmed two positive cases. However, ahead of their Ligue 1 season opener against Lens, it has been revealed that PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The French forward is reportedly the seventh PSG player to test positive with the other cases all revealed during the club’s pre-season test. The 21-year-old is currently with the French national side and will miss out on both France’s next game against Croatia and games against Lens, Marseille, Metz and reportedly OGC Nice. However, in light of Mbappe’s positive test, PSG sporting director Leonardo has hit out at the French Football Federation (FFF) and claimed that they’ve disrespected the club with their announcement.

“I find it completely unacceptable that we learn from the press that one of our players is positive. They released a statement and sent the player home but no-one from the Federation has communicated this to us. No one has contacted us. Are we managing?” Leonardo told RMC.

“Everyone gives lectures to PSG, that we’re poorly managed. But when this happens, it's still PSG that have to manage the problems, despite not knowing about them. PSG are always the bad guys in the story. It is a lack of respect to never communicate with the club. We did not speak with anyone. We only spoke with Mbappe. We were the ones who had to put the pressure on. It is unacceptable.”
