The IPL is one of the biggest entertainment sources in the world of sports at the moment with cricketing fans sitting glued to their TVs and mobiles, as daily soaps take the back seat. Nostragamer brings you the fans’ predictions ahead of Delhi Daredevils' opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Who will bowl more dot balls?

Options: Tymal Mills, Yuzvendra Chahal

In their previous match, Mills & Chahal bowled 11 & 5 dots in their allotted four overs. Chahal was, by far, more miserly, and with an economy rate of 5.5 was one of the best bowlers against Hyderabad who scored over 200 runs. Mills, on the other hand, conceded at an economy of 7.7 runs in the same game. Fans, however, aren’t completely convinced with the spinner's performance and are split down the middle about the two Bangalore players.

Fans verdict: Equal

How many runs will be scored?

Options: Less than 270, 270-330, more than 330

The average first innings score at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the IPL is 171 compared to the 148 that are scored in the second innings. The average aggregate score at the Chinnaswamy is 331 runs over the last 5 games. The fans, however, seem conservative considering the absence of Virat Kohli in the team, with 50% of them voting for a score between 270 and 330. 30% have gone with a score of fewer than 270 runs while only 20% are expecting the score to exceed 330.

Fans’ verdict: 270-330 – 50%

Who will hit more boundaries?

Options : Kedar Jadhav, Karun Nair

There is a 7-year age gap between these two cricketers and that perhaps accounts for the explosiveness with which Nair plays. The 25-year-old averages almost 3.5 boundaries per innings in the IPL while Jadhav, is staider with 1.7 boundaries per innings in the IPL. The fans, however, have opted to side with experience over youth with 60% banking on Jadhav to hit more boundaries in this match.

Fans’ verdict : Kedar Jadhav – 60%

Who will win?

In the head to head comparisons, between the two sides, Bangalore hold a slender lead with six wins as compared to Delhi's four. While the home side need to escape from their tag of the eternal chokers (having made it to 3 finals and losing each one), Delhi are in danger of stagnating their way into mediocrity. The masses, however, are still backing the Kohli-less Bangalore side despite their opening-day defeat or is it a total lack of confidence in the Daredevils’ abilities? Either way, 76% believe that Bangalore will take the honours today.

Fans’ verdict: Bangalore – 76%
