Ben Stokes clarifies his statement after people misconstrued his reply to Virat Kohli gesture

In his flight to Perth from Adelaide, Michael Vaughan saw Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma giving up their business class seats to allow the Indian pace attack more room on their flight from Adelaide. That gesture touched the former English skipper, and he lauded Kohli’s exemplary gesture on Twitter. The day was also Kohli and Sharma’s first wedding anniversary and while their Twitter timelines were already flooding with wishes, Vaughan’s tweet made people going gaga over the couple’s sweet gesture. 

The incident reminded Ben Stokes of an incident that he had seen a couple of years ago in which English coach Trevor Bayliss did something similar like that. Although Stokes didn’t reveal the entire story, he tagged Ben Duckett in the tweet, which means the English keeper might have been at the receiving end of the gesture. 

However, some fans assumed that it was a dig directed at Kohli and lashed out at the English all-rounder for his “pettiness”. However, to put an end to the raging controversy, Stokes was quick to clarify that he has huge respect for Virat Kohli and just stated a fact from the past. 

Stuart Broad also took the opportunity to thank his former skipper Alastair Cook and current skipper Joe Root for extending him the same gesture so many times in his career.
