IPL 2018 | Bhuvneshwar Kumar calls SRH’s win over DD a perfect team performance
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who made his return to the team after three matches, stated that Sunrisers Hyderabad’s win against Delhi Daredevils was a perfect team performance. SRH won the match against Delhi by 7 wickets, which took the 2016 IPL winners back to the of the table with 14 points in nine games.

SRH batsmen, however, didn’t disappoint this time and managed to chase the target with one ball to spare. Alex Hales was the top scorer with 45 runs from 31 balls and was back by vital contributions from everyone. Shikhar Dhawan (33), Williamson (32*), Manish Pandey (21) and Yusuf Pathan (27*) contributed at crucial junctures to get SRH their 7th win in nine matches they have played so far.
“The win against DD was important because in the last three or four matches we won because of our bowling. In this match, batsmen won us the game. This is a perfect team performance where the batsmen and bowlers all are performing,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said after the match.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was suffering from a back injury, made his comeback in the team and gave 33 runs without taking any wicket. He pointed that SRH bowlers’ did a good job in the end by giving just 68 runs in the last 10 overs.
“There was not much swing happening. After conceding 95 runs in the first 10 overs, we thought that it was not the end. We pulled back in the last 10 overs and gave only 68 runs,” he said.
It was not one of the best fielding displays by the Delhi team. They dropped few catches, which included the catch of Yusuf Pathan on 0 by Vijay Shankar in the 18th over and Alex Hales on 9 by Glenn Maxwell in the second over. Both the batsmen went on score some crucial runs for their team. DD showed some good bowling skills and kept SRH batsman in check in the middle overs, which led to the match being decided in the last over. DD’s assistant coach Pravin Amre attributed drop catches as the reason for their loss.
“It is because of our fielding we lost the match. The saying goes catches win matches and that happened today. Dropping catches hurt us today as after Hales was dropped in the powerplay they managed to get 61 in the first six overs. After Manish Pandey got out we had them under pressure. We had the opportunity but we fielded poorly. Our boys have really worked hard on their fielding. That’s where it hurts the most as the missed catches were not so difficult ones," Amre said.
