Ashley Nurse has claimed that before the ODI series against the home side India began, nobody gave the visiting Windies team a chance against the loaded Indian side but they have already managed to change that perception. Windies recently won the third ODI of the series by 43 runs.

After the Windies team lost the first ODI to an extravagant display of batting by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the visitors were written off and were not expected to fare any better in the upcoming matches. But they have made a valiant comeback and with only two more ODIs to go the series is now well poised with the scoreline reading 1-1. The West Indies team won the third ODI and the main performer for the visitors was Ashley Nurse who scored a quickfire 40 runs and also picked two crucial wickets. Nurse asserted that no one gave the Windies any chance against the Indian side but they have already forced people to change their perceptions.

"It was a very good performance by the boys. No one gave us a chance when we came but I think we're showing the public out here that we are here to play. It's just good to see the boys play consistent cricket and give India a run for their money," Nurse said after the game.

"I guess it was my day. I guess I played with a lot of free spirit. When Shai got out, I had to do something because the score was not that big. Sometimes you can be the hero, sometimes it can go down to zero as well. If I get a 50-50 chance to win the game, I back myself to do it."

On the pitch of the third ODI at Pune, Nurse assessed the pitch as that was good pitch on the slower side. But he also said that it was largely a batting friendly wicket.

"It was a good wicket but a bit on the slower side. Don't think the wicket had any devils in it. I just thought from our side Shai got a nice 95 and Virat got a hundred for India. It wasn't a belter. You had to work for your runs but it was a pretty good wicket," Nurse told.

The all rounder said that one can’t perform in every match but can try to do the right things and that’s exactly what he does.

"Every day is fishing day but every day is not catching day. So I just go and put the ball in the right areas, try to create as much chances as possible. And just try do my job, not really care about the critics, just go and do my job for the team each and every day," Nurse concluded.

He also explained the celebration which bears a stark similarity to the "Babaji ka Thulu" from the Kapil Sharma Show.

"Just dedicating the celebration to my Indian friend - Sunny Sohal, whom I met at the CPL. He told me, when you get a wicket do a 'Babaji ka thullu' or something," Nurse said.
