Stuart Broad slams Pakistani journalist for criticizing Andre Russell's 'priority'

Andre Russell has lit up the IPL with his relentless monstrous sixes in the initial stages of the tournament, which led Pakistani journalist Shahid Hashmi to point out how underwhelming the Windies player was in Pakistan Super League. However, he had pertinent questions to answer by Stuart Broad.

Scoring 207 runs in just four matches at a strike rate of 268.83 Andre Russell surely is, as Harsha Bhogle stated yesterday, the scariest player in world cricket. His brute strength was on exhibition at the Chinnaswamy on Friday as he smacked Royal Challengers Bangalore with an unbeaten 48-run knock off 13 balls as Kolkata Knight Riders chased down 206 with five balls to spare.

The Windies player has surely been the most exciting player in IPL this season with 22 sixes to his name this season already and it has in way pricked India’s neighbours, who have their own Pakistan Super League. Taking a dig at Russell, Pakistani journalist Hashmi pointed out that an insipid Russell had hit only nine sixes in the league last month after replacing an injured Steve Smith in Multan Sultans.

However, Hashmi got rebuttal for his tweet in an unlikely persona as England fast bowler Stuart Broad came to Russell’s support by putting numerous reasons why the hard-hitter was clicking in India before failing in Pakistan. It soon ensued into an India and Pakistan debate on the feed.

Despite all his heroics, Russell isn’t the highest scorer in the league as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s David Warner current wears it 264 runs from the same number of games and is followed by teammate Jonny Bairstow.
