IPL 2019 | SRH vs CSK - Match Report through memes

Brief Scores : Chennai Super Kings 132/5 (Faf du Plessis 45, Shane Watson; Rashid Khan 2/17, Vijay Shankar 1/11) lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad 137/4 (Jonny Bairstow 61*, David Warner 50; Imran Tahir 2/20, Deepak Chahar 1/31) by six wickets.

CSK openers, Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson, found it difficult to get going right from the start and could only manage a grand total of 15 runs in the first 4 overs. However, they did not waste the entire powerplay as the two overs that followed yielded 26 runs to put CSK at a par score 41/0.

The carnage continued even after the powerplay, as Nadeem was whacked for 14 runs in his first over. Even Rashid’s first ball was convincingly dispatched for a boundary by Watson. Just when the opening partnership was proving to be a menacing one, Nadeem, in his second over, dismissed Watson with a slower ball. At the halfway point of their innings, CSK found themselves in the comfortable position of 80/1.

It didn’t get any better for CSK after that either, as Billings was dismissed for a duck which brought Ravindera Jadeja to the crease. Even though Rayudu scored a boundary in the 16th over, the scorecard showed CSK with only 108 runs on the board with 4 overs to play. With no MS Dhoni in the line-up CSK could only manage one boundary in the death with meant that they finished their allotted 20 overs with just 132 on the board.  

While the CSK openers took their own sweet time to get going, David Warner had other plans. After hitting Shardul Thakur for a boundary in the second over, he doubled the tally against Deepak Chahar in the next. Seven more boundaries in the next three overs meant that Warner brought up his half century in 24 balls. Even though Chahar went on to dismiss him on the same score, SRH found themselves with a score of 68/1 at the end of the powerplay. 

Having lost against Mumbai Indians from a comfortable position, SRH knew they did not need to take any risks to seal the win. It was Jonny Bairstow who, along with Deepak Hooda, took the responsibility to guide his side to 2 points. From the 13th over onwards, the duo scored 19 runs off 18 balls, without any boundaries, to make the equation 9 runs off 24 balls for the hosts. 

After Hooda hit Karn Sharma for a boundary to put SRH within touching distance of a win, he threw away his wicket on the very next ball holing out to Faf du Plessis at Long off. Bairstow, however, ensured there would be no jitters this time and against Dhoni’s side, finished it off in style. Not only did the win help SRH move to within 2 points of the playoffs, it also ended CSK’s four match winning streak.
