Chandrakant Pandit also known as ‘Chandu’, a former Indian Cricketer was born on September 30, 1961, in Mumbai. He played several domestic matches and tournaments for Maharashtra and Assam and has also been a part of the Indian National Team in test and ODI cricket. Pandit made his debut in Test Cricket on June 19 in the year 1986 when he was included in the playing XI for a test match against England.

His records in domestic cricket have been quite impressive as he played a total of 138 first-class matches in which he scored 8209 runs with an average of 48.57 which includes 42 half-centuries and 22 massive hundreds. He also scored a double century in first-class cricket with the best score in an innings of 202 runs. In 101 List A matches, he made 2033 runs with an average of 35.05 with 14 fifties.

He played a total of 5 test matches for India in which he scored 171 runs with a batting average of 24.42 and a strike rate of 51.66 with the best score of 39 runs. His form was not that good in the red-ball format of the game as a result of which he could not get many opportunities to showcase his talent on the field in test cricket.

He played his first One Day International game on April 10, 1986, against New Zealand and played a total of 36 matches before retiring from International Cricket. In 23 innings, he scored a total of 290 runs with a batting average of 20.71 and a strike rate of 72.50 with the highest score in an innings of 33* runs. One of the biggest setbacks in his career was he could not score any half-century in International Cricket.

Pandit's participation extended to the ICC Cricket World Cup 1987 roster, where his contribution was of paramount importance to the team's performance throughout the competition. His final appearance in a test match transpired on January 25, 1992, facing off against Australia. In a similar vein, his last One Day International presence took place on January 20, 1992, competing against the same opponent. Chandrakant played his last International match in the year 1992 and the shortest format of the game was not started during that time. Indian Premier League commenced in the year 2008 and therefore he has not been a part of the IPL as a player. However, he played a crucial role for Kolkata Knight Riders when he became the head coach of the side in the year 2022.
