Paris-Saint Germain have signed Mauro Icardi for €50 million, plus €8 million in bonuses, after they came to an agreement with Inter Milan for the striker. The Argentine had spent the 2019/20 season on loan with the Parisians and was the perfect foil for both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at the club.

The former Nerazzurri captain struggled in his final few months at the San Siro with him stripped of his captaincy after a situation of his own creation. However, with former manager Luciano Spaletti on his way out, many believed that Icardi would be handed a second chance under Antonio Conte but that wasn’t to be. Instead, the Argentine was shipped out on loan to PSG and somehow, the striker made an impression in both the Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

So much so, that PSG have confirmed a €50 million (plus €8 million in bonuses) move for the former Barcelona star after they came to an agreement with Serie A giants Inter Milan. Icardi did have a reported €70 million buyout clause as a part of his loan deal but the coronavirus pandemic has hit both sides hard and they reached an agreement for a lower fee. However, Goal has reported that the Nerazzurri will receive an extra €15 million if the striker is sold to another Italian club with Juventus still heavily linked.

ESPN has further reported that Icardi has signed a contract until June 2024 with him earning around €10 million a year, which is the same salary that Edinson Cavani was on. But with the Uruguayan out of contract at the end of this season, the club were looking for a new striker and eventually settled on Icardi, who in turn reportedly rejected Juventus to sign for the Ligue 1 giants.
