Report | Manchester City put £100 million price tag on Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus has been linked with a move away to Barcelona and Bayern Munich which has Manchester City ready to slap a £100 million price tag on the Brazilian to ward off any interest. The 22-year-old has struggled to get game-time under Pep Guardiola with Sergio Aguero still the main striker.
Gabriel Jesus has been vocal about his lack of playing time and that has seen a number of top European clubs chase after his signature. Bayern Munich are monitoring Jesus’ situation and could launch an offer soon to lure the striker to Allianz Arena. The German giants spent all summer chasing winger Leroy Sane, before a cruciate ligament injury sidelined him until February. That has seen Bayern Munich shift their attentions towards Jesus reports the Sun.
However, the English news outlet further added that Manchester City will demand in excess of £100 million for the Samba star which is a fee that Bayern will be unwilling to pay. The report also adds that La Liga champions Barcelona are looking for a successor for Luis Suarez, who is on the last legs of his career, and believe that Jesus is the man to replace the Uruguayan striker.
The 22-year-old signed for Manchester City in 2016 from Brazilian club Palmeiras for £27 million and has become a key star for Pep Guardiola. While he has lacked consistency, the Brazilian has had purple patches to help him move through his City career, scoring five goals in his last six starts for the club this season. That has seen the Brazilian score his 50th goal for the reigning champions but reports indicate that he is still frustrated at not being selected more often by Guardiola.
The Manchester City boss favours Sergio Aguero over Jesus and the Argentine has rarely disappointed for the club. The former Atletico Madrid striker lead the club to their first Premier League title and under Guardiola, the 31-year-old has become even better. Under the former Barcelona manager, Aguero has scored a mammoth 105 goals in just 140 games doing more than enough to keep Jesus out of the starting line up and also became the club's record goalscorer.
Jesus has started only 4 league games for City so far but reports indicate that Guardiola remains adamant that the Brazilian is the long term successor to Aguero a man who has 172 goals and rising to his name. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are aware of the former’s current situation and might act soon by an offer in the upcoming transfer windows.
