Reports | PSG and Real Madrid set to compete for Antonio Rudiger
Chelsea has opened discussions with Antonio Rudiger over a contract extension but remains cautious of his demands leading to speculation that he could move on with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain keeping tabs on the center-back. Rudiger has less than a year remaining on his current deal.
Chelsea is still hopeful of completing a deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde amid uncertainty around Antonio Rudiger’s contract situation, according to Goal. The German international's current deal expires in the summer of 2022 and he will be free to talk to other clubs by January if an agreement isn't found to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in adding the German defender to their ranks and are set to enter into talks with Rudiger's camp on a pre-contract agreement in January. Despite interest from other top European clubs, the 28-year-old is happy to stay with the English club as long as his contract demands are met, with Rudiger believing that this is the last big-money deal of his playing career, according to Goal.
The German had previously acknowledged talks over a new contract back in August and was hopeful of agreeing to an extension of his stay with the European champions. Talks have been going on between club and player as Rudiger proves to be an important cog for Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea team. Rudiger has made 155 appearances for the Blues while scoring seven goals and providing three assists. The 28-year-old has helped the club win one FA Cup, one Europa League, one UEFA Super Cup, and a Champions League so far during his stint with the London side.
