PKL 2019 | Best 7 of Panchkula leg ft. Pawan Sehrawat, Naveen Kumar and Sandeep Dhull
The Panchkula leg of season 7 saw three more teams booking their place in the playoffs while it also had some amazing individual performances. Pawan Sehrawat’s record-breaking performance against Haryana Steelers was the best moment of the leg while Naveen Kumar continued his amazing run.
Pawan Sehrawat, Raider, Bengaluru Bulls
Pawan Sehrawat will definitely be the first-choice raider in the team of the week considering his amazing show in the two games that the Bulls played in Panchkula. In the absence of Rohit Kumar, Pawan led the team from the front on both the occasions and even produced a record-breaking performance against Haryana Steelers. By collecting 39 raid points in that game he also broke Pardeep Narwal’s record of highest individual points in a single game. Apart from that game, he also got 14 points against Jaipur Pink Panthers in a game which didn’t go in their way.
Deepak Narwal, Raider, Jaipur Pink Panthers
After their home leg got over, Jaipur Pink Panthers wanted to win all their games before the playoffs to get a ticket for the same. However, in their only game in Panchkula, they had to play without the services of their primary raider Deepak Naiwas Hooda. Deepak Narwal took up the responsibility in the other Deepak’s absence and delivered for the team as well. Jaipur managed to get the better of in-form Bengaluru Bulls and Deepak’s 16 raid points that evening was instrumental in the win for the inaugural champions.
Naveen Kumar, Raider, Dabang Delhi
Naveen Kumar was unstoppable and made things look very easy in the two games that Delhi played in the Haryana leg. Playing at his home venue, Naveen scored 19 points in the high-scoring game against Puneri Paltan while against Bengal he got 15 in a losing cause. Delhi wanted to cement their place in top 2 and Naveen’s sensational show against Paltan helped the team to get there without any issues. Naveen also recorded his highest score in a game against the Pune-based team in which Delhi managed to get a huge win by a scoreline of 60-40.
Vishal, All-rounder, Jaipur Pink Panthers
In the last two legs, Jaipur Pink Panthers have got a new star in the defence. Vishal, the all-rounder, has been the best contributor as far as the tackle points are considered. He can play both as a cover and a corner defender and after a great home leg, he managed to get five tackle points in the only game against the defending champions in Panchkula. Whenever Sandeep Dhull is off the mat, he stands at the left corner position and has been effective there as well for the Jaipur-based franchise.
Surjeet Singh, Right cover, Puneri Paltan
Puneri Paltan skipper Surjeet Singh is the only player who has performed for them in the defence and he had a good time on the mat in the only game he played in Haryana. After staying off the mat completely in Pune’s first game, he played against the Titans and collected as many as seven points in defence. There was Siddharth Desai in the other team and despite that, the skipper was excellent that evening to take his side to a win and this win ensured that the Titans were out of the race for the playoffs.
Sandeep Dhull, Left corner, Jaipur Pink Panthers
As Deepak Niwas Hooda didn’t play in Jaipur’s only game in Panchkula, Sandeep Dhull took up captaincy. The best defender of the season had a great game in defence as well as he collected four tackle points. Dhull controlled himself in a much better way than what he had done in last few games. Going against Pawan Sehrawat, Dhull looked more sorted at the corner position and at times, he was also seen at the right spot and that tactical change also helped the team.
Ravinder Pahal, Right corner, Dabang Delhi
One of the best right corner defenders in all seasons of the league, Pahal is having a mixed season this time around. However, on the second day at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, he came up with an amazing performance against Puneri Paltan which must have made him proud. Standing at his usual position, Pahal looked perfect with his tackles against the Paltan. Apart from Naveen, Pahal was the star for Delhi in that game as he collected six points from nine attempts. Although he failed against Bengal Warriors in the top of the table clash, his performance in the Pune game was enough to get him a place in the combined team.
