The mysterious Rashid Khan has lived up to expectations of everyone and is an importance element to SRH’s cause to win the IPL, believes Tom Moody. Having been bought for 9 crores, the Afghani leg-spinner has been worth every penny and could also be called one of the best buys of the Hyderabad team.

Rashid Khan has been climbing the ladder quite rapidly. From making his debut in 2015 to becoming fastest bowler to take 100 wickets, his journey has been no less than perfect. Talking about the young sensation, SRH coach Moody regarded him as “unique” and also, emphasized his success with the team last year.

“Rashid is a pretty unique cricketer and he’s had a lot of success with us last year,” Moody told Reuters.

Since making his international debut at the age of 15, Rashid has never looked back and has been a wanted man in the leagues around the world. SRH exercised their right to match option for the leg-spinner in this year’s auction to retain his services. Also, Rashid is set to play in the one-off Test for Afghanistan against India. Hence, his importance to the team SRH is immense.

“He’s gone from strength to strength in the various tournaments that he has played around the world and also when he’s representing his country. He’s an important piece to our puzzle given that there’s an element of mystery around him and he has that real potency as a wicket-taker. So he’s important,” Moody, who played eight tests and 76 ODIs for Australia, added.

On being asked about the team’s transition after David Warner got banned in the ball tempering scandal, the Aussie stated that the team has easily adapted to the new captain. Having won three out of their three matches, the transition did seem very smooth.

“It’s a very easy transition, to be honest,” said the Australian, who has also coached Sri Lanka’s national side.

Further, he mentioned that Kane is an experienced campaigner and has captained his national side for quite a while now. The understanding of the game that Williamson brings to the table is very valuable and that's why he insisted that captains must be true to their strengths and the Kiwi is doing exactly that.

“Kane is the captain of experience, given he has captained international teams. He’s got a real understanding of leadership and captaincy. And like any player captain must be true to themselves and true to their strength and Kane will be doing exactly that and we will encourage him to do it his way.”
