Cricket is no longer a gentleman’s game as it was in the past and there have been many instances where the cricketers are seen indulged in making fun of each other and even insulting others. Something similar happened between Mitchell Starc and Rishabh Pant during the second day of the third Test.

The Indian batsmen had a good time in the middle on the second day of the Melbourne Test match after dominating the proceedings on Day 1. Cheteshwar Pujara went on to score his 17th Test hundred while skipper Virat Kohli also looked brilliant with the bat as he scored 82 off 204 balls before getting out. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant also looked comfortable in the lower middle order and both of them made sure that the Aussie bowlers struggle to stop the Indians from putting a big score on the board.

While Pant and Sharma were at the crease and the sixth wicket partnership was looking really good for the visitors, something really interesting happened in the middle. It was the 167th over of the Indian innings and Mitchell Starc was into his 27th. The fifth delivery was a near Yorker length ball which was punched away towards the cover region by Pant and the batsmen set off for a couple. After the follow through, Starc was standing in the way of Pant who was running towards the non-striker’s end. Pant tried to move away from the bowler and he had to run through the danger area of the pitch.

Starc saw that and he complained about the incident to umpire Ian Gould and then went on to comment Pant for running into the danger area by calling him dumb.

''He's f***ing done it again mate! How dumb are you?” said Starc which was recorded in the stump mic. Last year, Kagiso Rabada was handed a demerit point for the same and had to miss a Test against England as ICC clarified that the stump mic had picked up the swear word.
