VIDEO | Pujara laughs about his struggle as Kohli completes three runs before he could run two

It was a show of two contrasting personalities as while one is incredibly fit, the second is just fit enough to grind the opposition down for long hours. That was on show today as Virat Kohli left Pujara embarrassed as he completed three runs even before the latter could run a couple.

Before lunch, India surprisingly continued to play negative cricket and although Pujara scored his second ton of the series, Kohli could manage only 21 runs in the entire first session. That added pressure on Kohli told as he tried to break the shackles by playing some drives in the post-lunch session where he got some success. He even pushed his partner to run as much as possible to keep the scoreboard ticking.

In the 120th over of the innings, Pat Cummins made the mistake of bowling a full ball on the pads to Kohli to which the Indian skipper flicked by using his wrists. He was in a good position to play that shot and he found the gap wide of mid-wicket. However, the outfield was so dreadful that it was obvious that the ball wouldn’t go past the boundary and would stop mid-way.

As it slowly was racing towards its destination, the Indian skipper completed three runs in the process and wanted to come back for a four. The funny thing was when Kohli completed the third run, Pujara just left his crease for it and was never in sync with his skipper’s amazing athletic ability. So, when Kohli wanted the fourth run, Pujara was mentally and physically done and signalled NO to his skipper. He had an embarrassed laugh on his face and the duo had to settle for just three runs.
