I know that Mohamed Salah will finish the season strongly, asserts Jurgen Klopp
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Mohamed Salah will find his footing soon enough and finish the season strongly as the Merseyside club aim to claim glory across domestic and European competitions. The Egyptian winger has not scored for the English club from open play since February 19th.
Mohamed Salah signed for Liverpool from Roma in the summer of 2017 and the Egyptian has since gone on to become one of the best attackers in world football with his prolific displays in both domestic and European competitions. That includes this season, as the 29-year-old has been in sensational form for the Reds this campaign as he has notched 28 goals and provided 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
Liverpool are on track to claim a quadruple this season as they are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the Champions League while they have already won the Carabao Cup this season. They are also engaged in a heated title race in the Premier League with Manchester City. Salah has won the Premier League Golden Boot twice and is the frontrunner to lift the individual award again this season although the Egyptian has failed to find the net from open play since February.
It has many fans and critics alike worried about the forward's lack of form in front of goal but Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp played down suggestions of concern over Salah and backed him to rediscover his best form.
“Yeah, yeah. It’s just in our business the problem we have is that in January he had the most intense period in his whole career. The tournament went until the wire. They played in the final, they had all these 120 minutes, the role he has is super, super massive. There is a huge responsibility on his shoulders with dressing room meetings and stuff like this with no recovery at all,” Klopp said in his press conference.
"But the boys here are focused every day. I know that Mo will finish strong. It’s just at the moment we have to reset because each game for us is a final,” he added.
