Happy to be here at Juventus but I’d be happier with trophy, proclaims Alvaro Morata

Despite doing well for Atletico Madrid in his debut season, the Los Rojiblancos sent Alvaro Morata out on loan to Juventus with the Old Lady reportedly keen on signing the forward. The 29-year-old signed for his former club, on loan, in the summer of 2020 and has since gone on to become a key part of their squad. Not only that, Morata has found the net consistently with 31 goals and 19 assists so far in his second spell with the club.

It has seen reports indicate that Juventus do want to activate the buy-option they have in the deal although the Turin side are looking to negotiate a lower fee with Atletico Madrid. The two parties are yet to start discussions but Morata has revealed that he would happy to stay at the club for the near future. Not only that, the Spanish forward added that he is giving it his all for the team and believes that he can still make an impact.

“There is a long queue to come here and it’s normal to be judged in every game. I am giving my all to win for my teammates and the fans. I am happy to be here. My sons ask me to sing the club’s anthem every morning, I am happy, but I’d be happier with a trophy,” Morata said, reported Goal.

The 29-year-old also praised former Juventus teammate Carlos Tevez and revealed that the Argentine was someone who helped him become the footballer he is today. Furthermore, Morata revealed that when he met Tevez again, recently, they spoke about a lot of things alongside a regret that they lost the Champions League final in 2015 to Barcelona.

“In a way, he made me become a footballer. I was only 21, and I didn’t have much experience. He has become one of the best players ever; Tevez had incredible quality. There aren’t many players like him in history. He would win games single-handedly.

“We spoke about football, family, everything. He knows that I’ll be forever grateful to him. There is a small regret. Perhaps there was a penalty for us in the [Champions League] Final against Barcelona, but that’s how life is,” he added.
