In du Plessis' absence, Aiden Markram led the side in the second ODI and the team suffered a 9-wicket loss.
For India, the series opener was the chance for Ajinkya Rahane to prove his value at the No. 4 position and he scored 79 runs for the team. The first Test match of the tour was played in Cape Town where the players got green beds. However, Cape Town has been worse affected by the drought and as a result, that affected the ground as it couldn't get proper watering to maintain the green top on the ground. In the third ODI, the pitch is expected to be batsmen-friendly and the spinners will get enough turn as well.
