After Ravichandran Ashwin started off his stint with DC with 2 wickets in the first over, he managed to dislocate his shoulder on the last ball of his first over as he dived to save runs of his bowling. He is expected to be out of action for a long time as he walked off the field in pain.

Ravichandran Ashwin had been traded to Delhi Capitals earlier this year and the off-spinner hoped that he would be able to force his move to the national team with a brilliant performance for the team from Delhi. Things were going according to the plan as he dismissed two batsmen in the first over itself against his former team. He dismissed Karun Nair on his first ball for Delhi as he tried to sweep a flighted delivery from him but managed to edge it to Prithvi Shaw at short fine leg.

Then, on his fifth ball, he bowled a ripper of a delivery to send Nicolas Pooran to the dressing room. He again flighted the ball on the middle and off stump of Pooran and then got it to rip off the surface to hit the stumps of Pooran. Ashwin couldn't have asked for a better debut for the Delhi Capitals, but on the last ball, his dream run ended with an injury.

Ashwin dived to stop the ball hit by Glenn Maxwell to long-on but was unable to do so and in the process, he managed to dislocate his shoulder. He walked off the ground in deep pain, which suggested that it is a serious injurious and he might be out for a long time. This will be a huge blow for the franchise as they were looking to use the services of former CSK bowlers on slow tracks of UAE. Although DC has a strong spin lineup consisting of Sandeep Lamichanne and Amit Mishra, they would certainly miss the off-spinner, who might miss a chunk of matches for the franchise, with a dislocated shoulder.
