Twitter reacts to Shreyas Iyer’s humongous six forcing umpires for new ball

There are players, there are sixes and then there is Shreyas Iyer, who charismatically combines the two into one while at the crease. Against KXIP, it was no different as the Delhi skipper caressed Krishnappa Gowtham for a 99m six, forcing the umpires to opt for a new ball in the crowd’s absence.

Delhi got off to the worst possible start, with the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, and Shimron Hetymer in the power play but in hindsight with their brilliant middle-order, they looked unfazed. A major factor for such a bold reaction from the Delhi side was the partnership between Rishabh Pant and skipper Shreyas Iyer. While Pant was still getting into his groove, his partner at the other end, Iyer already looked a tad comfortable.

However, when off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham walked into bowl, the right-hander Iyer immediately took the onus as he aimed to increase the scoring rate. After watching Pant score a boundary, Iyer immediately reacted with a version of his own when he absolutely smashed the leather out of Gowtham’s half-tracker.

While the half-tracker was ready to be hit, the right-hander’s ease with which he cleared the boundary was mind-boggling, with the ball travelling into the third-tier and legends say that it is still travelling. Such was the impetus of his shot and his influence on the side as he continued to plummet two more sixes against the off-spinner.

Here is how twitter reacted on it:
