After surviving the scare in the first over against Sheldon Cottrell, Shikhar Dhawan’s stay at the crease was toughened by the pace and accuracy of Mohammed Shami. After Dhawan was dropped by Rahul behind the wickets, the southpaw went on a graze, eventually running himself out.

It was a new season but the same ol’ Delhi Capitals and Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order for them as they faced the strong Kings XI Punjab side. Early on in the very first over, the southpaw was beaten for pace and exquisite length from the West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell as they nearly edged one behind to the keeper. However, in the second over, he ensured that his attempts of walking back to the dressing room were successful.

Facing the toughened up pacer Mohammad Shami, the southpaw was beaten for pace in the very first delivery. The pacer beat the southpaw for pace, as the ball travelled nicely into the gloves of KL Rahul before the wicketkeeper made shambles of the chance, or as he thought.

The experienced opener took off even before realising where the ball travelled, as Rahul had to just toss the ball to the incoming fielder Krishnappa Gowtham who completed an easy run-out. Just when Delhi were aiming to get a good total, Dhawan’s clueless attitude restricted them to nine wickets. New season, same old Dhawan and his running between the wickets!

What happened here???
