Twitter reacts to chaotic no-ball forcing KL Rahul back to the middle
After effecting the run-out off the last delivery, KL Rahul as a skipper and batsman was relieved to run back to the dressing room for a quick shower. However, in IPL, unexpected things triumph expected ones, as Jordan’s no-ball forced the KXIP skipper to come back for the last delivery.
The encounter was always deemed as batsmen vs batsmen in a high-scoring frenzy. While the start of the clash represented anything but that, towards the middle of the innings, the partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant pulled the Capitals out of trouble. Iyer-Pant put on a show, scoring 73 runs between them before Pant was undone by a brilliant delivery from Ravi Bishnoi. Immediately, skipper Iyer too walked back to the dressing room as Delhi were held back nicely by the Punjab bowlers.
However, the fun, the batting paradise started taking onus in the aftermath of their dismissal as Ravichandran Ashwin joined Marcus Stoinis and immediately turned the attention back to the KXIP bowlers, who were leaking runs this time around. While the Australian was waiting for the end of the innings, he immediately struck a chord when Englishman Chris Jordan was back to the bowling attack. After a four and six, Stoinis absolutely bit into Cottrell, scoring 13 more runs.
In the last over, he capped it off with an over that seemed like it was off a club cricket, with the over reading 6, wd, 4, 4, 4, 6 before the last ball unfurled. The last delivery was an epitome of chaos in a nutshell. After striking it to the deep point fielder, Stoinis was caught short of his crease for a double as the fielders, in particular, KL Rahul sprinted back to the dressing room.
To his dismay, the wicketkeeper was brought back into the field after the English all-rounder Jordan overstepped, which was caught by the newly implemented technology for no-balls. Rahul, in the end, had no other choice but to return to the field, as Nortje picked up three runs.
