India vs Windies | India announce unchanged 12-man squad for Hyderabad Test
India has decided not to make any change to the 12-member squad for the second Test against the Windies in Hyderabad. While Shardul Thakur has kept his place in the team, he might be the sole man to miss out if India decides to go with the same XI that routed Windies in the first Test in Rajkot.
India was completely convincing - both with the bat and ball - in Rajkot and it seemed like they were having a net practice for the Australia series that is coming on their way. Apart from KL Rahul, all top seven batsmen struck scores above 40 and the debutant Prithvi Shaw scored a century to stake his claim for the following summer. Yesterday, Bharat Arun, in the pre-match presser, had stated that they wouldn’t make any changes to the team considering Windies have brought back Jason Holder and Kemar Roach, and the squad list exactly reflected that.
However, this must be a tough one to handle for Mayank Agarwal, who after selection thanks to his fantastic domestic returns, will have to serve drinks for one more game. While India decided to give game-time to the duo of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah will have to make himself ready to take on Australia without any red-ball cricket. However, once again, Mohammed Siraj was sidelined as India may hand debut cap to Thakur.
India has gone on with three spinners in the 12-man squad, with Ravichandran Ashwin leading the pack. He will be supported by Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, with the former being doubled up as an all-rounder.
Indian Team for the second Test: Prithvi Shaw, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur
