The Barmy Army Women's team has consisted of the former veteran players of the West Indies women's team who have represented their country and other domestic teams. West Indies is known for producing power hitters both in men's and women's cricket. Thus this team is also no exception. Considering that the team is a very recent addition to the Fair Break Tournament and that they have participated in it for the very first time, it was a decent performance from their side. The women did a pretty good job in winning the third place. No matter how the season went for the team, it is just the beginning and they still have a long way to go and a lot of areas to unfold.

The team, the entire tournament, is designed to promote gender equality on a global stage using cricket as their stepping stone. Cricket is one of the many popular sports, and could reach a much larger audience. Establishing cricket as a unisex sport actually could make a huge difference in backward countries where women are still dominated. This led FairBreak to launch a cricket tournament, the first season of which was played in 2023 and was well-received by the majority.

The team is a beautiful mix of talent and experience as per their 2023 squad is concerned. The team comprises players like the skipper Heather Knight, Shemaine Campbelle, Laura Wolvaardt, Roberta Avery, Laura Cardoso, Deandra Dottin, Kavisha Egodage, Fatima Sana, Henriette Ishimwe, Rumana Ahmed, Iqra Sahar, Tara Norris, Rubina Chhetry, Ruchitha Venkatesh, and lastly Selina Solman.

Barmy Army Women Team Owner

The precise details about the team owners could not be traced anywhere on the Internet. Any further information will be uploaded here regarding their owners.

Performance in the 2022 season

The Barmy Army Women's squad for the 2023 Fair Break Tournament was looking strong enough to pull off the team from any situation. In the first-ever match the Barmy Army Women played as a team, they faced the Sapphires Women's team. They got to a very strong start as they won the match by 50 runs. In their following encounter, they faced the Falcon Women's team, which unfortunately did not end well. Their next match was against the same opponent and to everyone's surprise the Tornadoes Women which ended in a victory for the Barmy Army Women Women. Their following match was against Sapphires Women and Warriors Women respectively. The two matches ended differently, one in a win by 6 wickets and the second one in a loss by a massive 54 runs respectively.

The team registered back-to-back losses in the next two matches against the Tornadoes Women and the Spirit Women. Their following opponent was again the Spirits Women, this time as well the match did not end well and the Barmy Army Women Women faced a defeat. The wins in the next three matches against the Tornadoes Women, Warriors Women and the Sapphires Women gave them a strong foothold in the tournament. With this, they came to the end of the group stage and were ready to face the Falcon Women in the semifinals. This however ended in a defeat by 6 wickets causing them to lose the chance to play in the finals. They then played the third-place playoffs and bagged a win against the Spirit Women, claiming the second runners-up title in the 2023 season.

Despite getting a good start, they could not hold the momentum and ended up losing consecutive matches which in turn shook their confidence. But they are no doubt a talented team, which just waits to unfold in the upcoming seasons of the Fair Break Tournament.

Performance in the 2023 season

In the season 2022, the tournament moved to Dubai because of the pandemic situation. The Barmy Army faced a humiliating defeat against the Spirit Women team. But they are known for their power of comeback and as a result they smashed the opponent in a close encounter against Falcons.

After a confidence-boosting win, they marched to their winning streak and crushed powerful teams like Tornadoes, Warriors and Sapphires back to back. At the time they were single-handedly controlling the tournament and were levelled up to the semis. But unfortunately, again their luck did not support them and they lost the match against Falcons and were defeated by 6 wickets.

They were displaced from the run for the trophy but a last match of respect, a 3rd place playoffs was scheduled for them with spirit. They easily won the match and secured the place of 2nd runners-up in the tournament. They ended their journey here with again lots of good performances but unluckily empty-handed.
