Saina Nehwal moves to No.5 in world rankings; Jwala-Ashwini fall four spots

Saina, who moved up two spots earlier this month after her title triumph in the Australian Open, continued her march back to the No.1 spot, exchanging places with Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, who now occupies the sixth spot in the table led by Spain’s Carolina Marin. Chinese shuttlers Wang Yihan and Li Xuerui occupy the second and third position respectively in the rankings, while Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand is above Saina at fourth. PV Sindhu held on to her position at 10th with Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei above her.

In the men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth remained at 11th in the table, which is led by Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia. China’s Chen Long and Lin Dan occupy the second and third position respectively in the table, while Danes Viktor Axelsen and Jan O Jorgensen are 4th and 5th respectively.

Ajay Jayaram remained at 24th in the rankings, while Sameer Verma climbed a place to be 36th. However, B Sai Praneeth slipped four places to 37th in the rankings.

In the men’s doubles, Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy fell two places to No.23 in the rankings, while Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar moved up one spot to 29th.

In the women’s doubles, Rio bound Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa slipped four places in the rankings to reach 20th.
