China Masters badminton | Parupalli Kashyap and Harsheel Dani enter pre-quarterfinals

Commonwealth Games champion Parupalli Kashyap and Harsheel Dani entered the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals at the China Masters Grand Prix Gold. Meanwhile, India's women shuttlers, Sai Uttejitha Rao Chukka and Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli, bowed out of the tournament early.

Former world No 6 Kashyap took only 46 minutes to get the better of Thailand’s Suppanyu Avihingsanon 21-16, 21-17 on his return to competitive badminton after recovering from a shoulder injury sustained during the Premier Badminton League (PBL). Kashyap will next meet third-seeded Chinese Qiao Bin later today.

Mumbai youngster Dani also entered the round of 16 by beating China’s Yan Runze 21-16, 22-20. He will lock horns with Chinese Sun Feixiang next.

In the women's section, Sai Uttejitha Rao Chukka and Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli lost to China's Li Wenmei and Li Yun respectively. While Sai went down 4-21, 21-13, 12-21, Sri Krishna lost 18-21, 11-21.
