Teenage sensation from Uttarakhand, Lakshya Sen, has clinched the top spot in the latest BWF Junior Rankings. PV Sindhu has overtaken Saina Nehwal and reached a career best ranking of 6, while Kidambi Srikanth fell out of the top 20 making Ajay Jayaram the highest ranked Indian in the new rankings.

Teenager Lakshya Sen has become the top-ranked junior men's player in the latest BWF rankings. Lakshya, who hails from Uttarakhand, swapped places with Taiwan's Chia Hao Lee to rise to the top spot. The 15-year-old shuttler, who has won U-19 tournaments in Switzerland and Denmark, won the bronze medal at the Junior Asian Badminton Championships last year.

Sen has been training at Prakash Padukone's badminton academy in Bangalore since he was 10 and is supported by the Olympic Gold Quest. He has benefited from training with India's only Junior World Champion, Saina Nehwal.

Former World No. 1 Saina Nehwal though, dropped one place to No. 9, and the incumbent PV Sindhu, leapfrogged her Indian counterpart along with Akane Yamaguchi and Li Xuerui to reach a career high ranking of sixth position. In the men's singles, Sameer Verma, who won his first Grand Prix at Syed Modi Internationals, jumped 10 places to his career-high 25 while K Srikanth slipped outside the top 20. This means that Ajay Jayaram is now the highest ranked Indian male player at No, 18. Srikanth follows him at 21, while HS Prannoy also moved up a spot to 24. Sai Praneeth at 32 is the only other Indian in the Top 50.
