While Olympic medallist Vijender Singh’s pro debut against Briton Sonny Whiting next week has garnered considerable attention back home, two other Indian boxers will go through their pro bouts this weekend. Neeraj Goyat and Dilbag Singh will compete in their respective six-round professional bouts in Incheon, Korea.

Goyat, a WBC Asian welterweight winner, will take on Filipino Ronnel Esparas, a veteran of 30 pro bouts, while Singh, 2010 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, will fight in the super lightweight against Indonesian Rocky Alap-Alap, who has fought 16 pro bouts.

“This will be my second pro bout and my first six-round bout and I am sure that I will win it. After my debut fight in Delhi, I was working really hard and especially worked on the endurance part as this will be my first longer version,” Singh said.

Goyat, who won the Asian title in a 12-round bout in Delhi earlier this year, is also confident of a good show. “For the last two years, I have been training to turn professional, so I am quite satisfied with my training for this bout,” said Goyat, who will be fighting his ninth pro bout on October 4.
